Developed and taught two science education courses for University Of West Georgia graduate and undergraduate elementary education students (1997 & 1998); Served on Advisory Board of University of West Georgia, Newnan; Assisted with development of 7 GYSTC (GA Youth Science & Technology Centers, Inc.) regional centers; Expanded Shenandoah GYSTC's region to include 4 counties; Served on GYSTC Assessment Committee and Strategic Planning Committee; Received $10,000 grants to GYSTC each year from Georgia Power Foundation; Worked with Kennesaw State College Math Department to provide a summer program for high school students, Earth Algebra, which resulted in the development of a student textbook; Served on Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce Education Committee and Established Industries Committee; Elected to Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors in 1995 and served as Chair of Chamber Olympic Committee in 1996. Supervised the hosting (food, lodging, transportation, training facilities) for visiting athletes from several countries and organized local Olympic Parade; Served two years as Director of Coweta Clean and Beautiful, a private nonprofit; as Director of UWG Newnan, was instrumental in obtaining a $2,000,000 donation to the University for expansion of the nursing program and in obtaining the donation of a larger facility to be renovated to house the growing nursing program. |
