She would like to recoginize her husband, Barney S. Graham, M.D., Ph.D. and her paternal grandfather, Roger Turner who, in 1920 had a bold vision of educational excellence and achievement for future generations. Abandoning the life he knew as a sharecropper and teacher in a one-room segregated school in Mississippi, Mr. Turner moved his family to a city where the dreams of higher education could become reality. |

Dr. Turner-Graham completed her residency in psychiatry at Vanderbilt School of Medicine and earned her MD from the University of Kansas. She holds a bachelor of science in chemistry from Fisk University and is a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. |

Motivated by her extensive clinical experience, Dr. Turner-Graham made the decision to establish ForSoundMind Enterprises LLC four years ago. As president she develops programs that generate "soundmindedness" a term she uses to describe a state of emotional wellbeing and self-assurance. She provides consulting services to promote effective communication strategies to reconnect families and promote healthy and positive interpersonal relationships. In addition to her responsibilities with ForSoundMind Enterprises LLC Dr. Turner-Graham heads a private psychiatry practice. In this capacity she is able to provide comprehensive evaluations as well as individual, family and group psychotherapy. In addition, she integrates psychopharmacologic and psychotherapeutic principles in her practice. Dr. Turner-Graham is known for using a holistic approach to psychiatry which she feels promotes natural growth and self-discovery. |

Dr. Cynthia Turner-Graham President of ForSoundMind Enterprises LLC has been named Professional of the Year in Psychiatry. While inclusion in the Registry is an honor, only two male and two female members in each discipline are named professionals of the year. The selection committee chooses these special honorees based on their professional accomplishments academic achievements and leadership abilities. |

Advice she likes to share: Be true to yourself and listen more than you talk. She also likes to step into the shoes of her patients to best understand their experiences. She is present with them in a way that makes them feel seen and understood. |

As she approaches retirement, she plans to expand her public and motivational speaking to groups, organizations and corporations, generally centered around the issues of mental health promotion and mental illness prevention. |
