Dr. Murphy specializes in diseases and conditions that affect the kidneys including chronic kidney disease, complicated hypertension, fluid and electrolyte disturbances, and bone and mineral disturbances. |

He has been practicing medicine for 27 years. |

Dr. Murphy graduated with his Medical Degree from the College of Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University in New York in 1989. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine in 1992 and completed his Fellowship in Nephrology at VCU Medical Center in 1994. |

In his free time he enjoys traveling, playing tennis, but most importantly spending time with family. He is a big fan of the arts, photography, movies, music, and technology; he considers himself a ?techno geek?. |

He is board certification in Internal Medicine and Nephrology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). |

Dr. Murphy started his own private practice, Hypertension and Kidney Care, in 2006. He also has admitting privileges at the following hospitals: Northside Hospital, Atlanta Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital and Emory Decatur Hospital.
Since 2004, he has been Medical Director of DaVita Northlake Dialysis Center, where thousands of life-preserving dialysis treatments are performed annually and where eligible dialysis patients are assisted in transitioning to kidney transplantation.
Since 2010, he has actively participated as the Section Chief of Nephrology of the Northside Hospital System, which includes several hospital campuses.
As of September 2022, Dr. Murphy has been appointed the Medical Director of Renal/Dialysis Services overseeing operations at the numerous hosptals in the Northside Hospital System. |
